All about the Role

Families are often described as the most under-utilised resource in child welfare. In Peterborough ‘being family led' is seen as an imperative for children. Evidence is clear that better plans and outcomes are achieved for all when families are enabled to come together and develop plans for their children.

We are developing an overall culture of family group decision making which is being supported by a significant investment in an expanded family group conferencing service. The vision for Peterborough is to expand our existing FGC Service and build on the recommendations arising from the current National Reforms and the key positive messages from Foundations. We are developing an implementation plan involving arrange of partners and with support from Leeds Relational Practice Centre.

We are seeking a leader of the FGC service as well as several family group conference co-ordinators.

The FGC team leader will ensure that families experience a high-quality family group conference and will help influence and shape family group decision making across the service as whole.

The closing date for applications is: 31st August 2025

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact: Jodie.Lefevre@peterborough.gov.uk

All about our Team

We are a passionate and dedicated team within the Targeted Support Service, committed to working relationally and restoratively with children, young people, and families. Our ethos is rooted in the belief that families are the experts in their own lives. We work alongside them to co-create plans and support that are meaningful, empowering, and sustainable.

Our team is made up of individuals who value kindness, patience, and determination. We bring our whole selves to work—many of us are parents, carers, and community members who understand the importance of feeling heard, supported, and safe. We celebrate each other's strengths and differences, and we foster a culture where everyone's voice matter
We are proud to be part of a service that embraces a “Family Valued” approach. This means we prioritise relationships, build trust, and ensure that our work is always centred around the needs and aspirations of the families we support. Whether it's through Family Group Conferences, early help interventions, or multi-agency collaboration, we strive to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
We support each other through reflective practice, shared learning, and a genuine commitment to wellbeing. Our team meetings are spaces for connection, creativity, and continuous improvement. We believe that when our team feels valued and supported, we are better able to support others.
