All about the Role

We are looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) Diversion Child & Family Worker to support children aged 10–17 who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system. You will build trusted relationships with young people and families, complete assessments, deliver targeted interventions, and coordinate support that reduces risk and prevents offending. Working as part of a multi‑agency team, you will manage a caseload, lead on plans where appropriate, make referrals to specialist services, and contribute to safeguarding activity. Strong partnership working, accurate case recording, and a whole‑family approach are essential to this role.

All about our Team

You will be joining our Diversion Team, a supportive group dedicated to helping young people make positive choices and avoid entering the criminal justice system. The team brings together experienced practitioners from early help, youth support, safeguarding, and youth justice backgrounds, all working collaboratively to reduce risk and strengthen family resilience.

We work closely with police, schools, health partners, community organisations, and wider Children's Services to provide joined‑up support that meets the needs of each young person and their family. The team values creativity, problem‑solving, and building strong, trusting relationships with children. You'll be part of a friendly, reflective, and solution‑focused environment where learning is shared, and your professional development is encouraged.

All about You

You'll have experience supporting children, young people, or families and be confident building positive, trusting relationships. You communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and can assess risk while keeping young people at the centre of your work. You're organised, reflective, and comfortable managing a varied caseload. You work well with partners across services and are motivated to help young people make safer choices and achieve better outcomes.
