All about the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Peterborough City Council as an Education, Employment and Training Coach. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is one of eight national Youth Guarantee Trailblazers who will be delivering a ‘test and learn' pilot. To further support this work we are looking for a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our aspirational team.     This is a  full time equivalent position available on a fixed term basis initially until 31st August 2026.  Providing information, advice and guidance to empower young people to build successful and fulfilling futures for themselves, this role will directly support young people aged 16-19 who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) and those of statutory school age who are identified as at risk of becoming NEET. 

 You will be required to hold a full and valid driving license and have access to a vehicle or have the ability to otherwise travel efficiently between locations.

 Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. This role is hybrid working – office and home working are supported in line with the needs of the service.  Additionally, it is expected that there will be time spent visiting key partners and stakeholders.  

 The closing date for these positions is 12th November 2025.

We monitor and track the EET activities of all young people aged 16-18 for the purposes of statutory reporting to the DfE through the September Guarantee and Annual Activity Survey.

Qualities:  

  • You will be motivated and dedicated to supporting young people and their families in achieving positive education, employment and training outcomes.  
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with young people and their families and with range of other professionals/agencies. 
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage time effectively to meet the needs of the role. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across diverse disciplines.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, whilst maintaining professional boundaries. 
  • You will be willing to continue your professional development through informal and formal training.  

Skills and Experience:  

  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people in a variety of settings and with complex barriers to making progression and transition into successful outcomes. 
  • Knowledge of opportunities in employment and training for young people and evidence of working with providers. 
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to raising participation and safeguarding.
  • You will have ability to produce, keep and maintain good case recording and assessments.
