All about the Role

Information Analyst – Corporate Services

Help turn data into insight that makes a real difference for Peterborough.

We're looking for an Information Analyst to join our Performance & Intelligence Service, supporting a wide and varied portfolio of corporate services. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, building insight, and developing their skills using modern business intelligence tools – particularly Microsoft Power BI and the wider Power Platform.

You'll work on a broad mix of projects, producing dashboards, performance reports and analysis that help managers and leaders understand what's working well, where improvements are needed, and how services can deliver better outcomes for our communities.

All about our Team

Join Peterborough City Council's Performance and Intelligence team—a forward-thinking service at the heart of strategic decision-making and transformation. As part of this innovative team, you'll contribute to shaping the future of public services through high-impact data analysis, performance reporting, and intelligence-led insights. The team leads on developing Power BI dashboards, managing corporate KPIs, and delivering strategic frameworks that inform policy and service delivery across the Council. With a strong focus on collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement, the P&I team is committed to empowering services with the tools and intelligence they need to drive positive outcomes for residents. If you're passionate about data, performance, and making a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports that are clear, accurate and meaningful
  • Analysing data from multiple systems to support performance monitoring, service improvement and statutory returns
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the council to understand information needs and translate them into effective reporting solutions
  • Supporting data quality, consistency and good information governance
  • Producing ad‑hoc analysis and insight to support decision‑making at pace

This is a hands‑on analytical role, ideal if you're confident working with data and want to build deeper experience across different services, datasets and challenges.

What we're looking for

You'll bring:

  • Experience using Power BI to create dashboards and visualisations (commercial or equivalent experience through study)
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with complex datasets
  • An analytical mindset, curiosity, and a practical “can‑do” approach to problem‑solving
  • The ability to explain data clearly to non‑technical colleagues
  • A genuine interest in learning, improving systems and developing your analytical capability

Experience in local government or the public sector is helpful, but not essential – we're more interested in your analytical skills, attitude and potential.

Why join us?

  • A varied role working across multiple services and projects
  • Real opportunities to develop your Power BI and Power Platform skills
  • Supportive management, collaborative working and space to grow
  • The chance to use data to make a visible difference to how services perform
