All about the Role 

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of fostering administrative processes by providing high-quality administrative support.

Liaising with colleagues, professionals, and members of the public over the phone, via email and face-to-face is an integral part of this role, and therefore excellent communication and customer service skills are essential alongside a good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.

You will work in a hybrid model, combining home-based work with in-office collaboration at Sand Martin House in Peterborough.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Fostering Service.
  • Process foster carer and special guardianship applications and support annual review procedures.
  • Complete statutory checks within required timescales and maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise professionally with medical advisors, social workers, foster carers, and other key stakeholders via email, telephone, and letter.
  • Process invoices, maintain financial records, and manage data within Excel and other Council software.
  • Support the Foster Panel when required, including occasional minute-taking (desirable but not essential).
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies in all communications.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented – able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Customer-focused – with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing a high standard of service.
  • IT proficient – with working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and experience using client databases

You will need a working knowledge of the standard Microsoft Office 365 (including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint) and experience of using client databases. You should be self-motivated, flexible and have excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise, and collaborate across different teams.
