Senior Information Analyst – Corporate Services
Grade 10 | Performance & Intelligence Service
Lead insight. Shape decisions. Improve outcomes.
We're seeking a Senior Information Analyst to play a key role in strengthening how data and insight support decision‑making across corporate services at Peterborough City Council.
This role goes beyond producing dashboards. You'll lead complex analytical work, shape reporting approaches, and work closely with senior managers to ensure data is being used effectively to inform strategy, policy and service improvement. Power BI will be central to your work, alongside wider Power Platform tools, SQL and advanced analytical techniques.
All about our Team
Join Peterborough City Council's Performance and Intelligence team—a forward-thinking service at the heart of strategic decision-making and transformation. As part of this innovative team, you'll contribute to shaping the future of public services through high-impact data analysis, performance reporting, and intelligence-led insights. The team leads on developing Power BI dashboards, managing corporate KPIs, and delivering strategic frameworks that inform policy and service delivery across the Council. With a strong focus on collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement, the P&I team is committed to empowering services with the tools and intelligence they need to drive positive outcomes for residents. If you're passionate about data, performance, and making a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the design and development of high‑quality Power BI dashboards and analytical products
- Integrating data from multiple systems, ensuring robustness, consistency and insight
- Acting as a trusted analytical partner to senior managers, helping them define questions, interpret data and drive change
- Providing expert analysis, research and evidence to inform strategic decisions and organisational priorities
- Championing data quality, good governance and continuous improvement in how performance information is used
- Supporting and guiding colleagues in the effective use and interpretation of data where required
This is a senior, outcomes‑focused role requiring confidence, credibility and the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insight.
What we're looking for
You'll bring:
- Significant experience using Power BI and business intelligence tools in a complex organisation
- Strong analytical expertise, including statistical analysis and working with large or complex datasets
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and challenging constructively
- Experience shaping reporting approaches, not just delivering to specification
- A strong understanding of data quality, governance and information assurance
Experience in local government or a similar public sector environment is desirable, particularly where you've supported strategic or corporate‑level decision‑making.
Why join us?
- A genuinely strategic analytical role with visibility and influence
- The opportunity to shape how insight is used across the organisation
- Challenging, meaningful work with real impact on services and communities
- A professional environment that values evidence, improvement and collaboration
