All about the Role

The Domestic Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring that Clare Lodge Secure Home maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for young people, staff, and visitors.

You will carry out a range of cleaning duties across the Home, making sure high standards of cleanliness are maintained at all times.

The role involves using cleaning equipment and products safely, following health and safety and COSHH guidelines, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are stored securely. You will also help with managing cleaning stock and waste, including recycling.

As this is a secure care setting, you will be expected to work professionally, maintain confidentiality, and follow security procedures. You'll interact with young people in a calm, respectful, and supportive way, and take part in supervision, training, and ongoing development.

This role is essential in supporting a safe, comfortable, and positive environment for everyone at Clare Lodge.

All about our Team

At Clare Lodge Secure Home, we are a supportive and committed team who work together to provide a safe, clean, and positive environment for the young people in our care. Every role within the Home plays an important part, and our Domestic Assistants are valued members of the wider team.

You will work alongside colleagues who respect and appreciate the importance of high standards, confidentiality, and teamwork in a secure care setting. We support one another, share responsibility for keeping the Home running smoothly, and communicate openly to ensure everyone feels safe and respected.

Our team is friendly, professional, and inclusive. We encourage learning and development, offer regular supervision, and value staff who take pride in their work and contribute positively to the culture of the Home. As a Domestic Assistant, you will be supported to do your role well and recognised for the important contribution you make every day.

All about You

You take pride in your work and understand how important a clean, safe, and well‑organised environment is—especially in a care setting. You have experience in cleaning and are confident using cleaning products and equipment safely, following health and safety and COSHH guidelines.

You are reliable, practical, and have a good eye for detail, noticing when things need attention and taking action to maintain high standards. You are physically able to handle cleaning equipment and enjoy working in a role that involves being active and hands‑on.

You understand the importance of professionalism, confidentiality, and security when working in a secure environment. You communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues, young people, and visitors, and are able to remain calm and measured in different situations.

You are happy to work as part of a team, take direction from your line manager, and contribute positively to the day‑to‑day running of the Home. You are willing to take part in training, supervision, and ongoing development, and you share a commitment to equality, safeguarding, and good customer care.
