All about the Role

Are you bored of just driving from A to B? Do you want to help people live their lives to the fullest?

We're looking for someone energetic, kind, and enthusiastic to join our team working with adults who have learning disabilities and autism.

Part of your role will be driving the people we support to and from our Hub each day. You will also drive people to different places within the local area and sometimes further afield for a day trip!

The other part of your role will be directly supporting people to take part in fun and meaningful activities.

The activities we offer at City Hub include:
  • Cooking, music, arts and crafts and sensory sessions
  • Sports and fitness activities like boxing, cycling, dance and sailing

You'll support people by encouraging independence, listening to what they want, and making sure they feel respected and included.

All about our Team

The City Centre Hub is a fun and vibrant hub based at City College Peterborough.

As a team we enjoy supporting people to:
  • Try new things
  • Get out and about
  • Build independence and confidence
  • Make friends and have fun
People usually take part in activities in small groups, based on their interests and goals. We focus on creating positive experiences, happy memories, and a place where everyone feels welcome.

All about You

You don't need to know everything already, but it's important that you:
  • Have a D1 driving licence and have experience driving a minibus
  • Know how to clamp wheelcahairs and use a tail lift (or are willing to learn)
  • Are caring, patient, and respectful
  • Understand that people with learning disabilities and autism may need different types of support
  • Are happy to help with personal care and giving medication
  • Can work well as part of a team or on your own
You should also:
  • Feel confident talking to people and working with different professionals
  • Be able to use a computer for basic tasks like writing notes
  • Provide relief cover within our other Day Opportunity hubs
  • Be willing to complete daily vehicle checks and report health and safety concerns
  • Use your initiative and stay calm in different situations (e.g. medical emergencies, distressed behaviours, vehicle challenges)
Most importantly, you should enjoy helping others, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.
