All about the Role

We are looking for an organised and customer-focused person to join our team and play a key role in supporting the work of the Information Governance team.

The role will log incoming requests accurately, ensuring all required details are captured and tracked through to completion. You will need to validate and acknowledge requests as well as identify, locate and retrieve relevant records across council systems. This may mean locating records from children's social care, adult social care or education which can contain very sensitive personal data. You will need to ensure that this is handled securely and confidentially whilst making  these records to be ready for review. You will need to organise and name files as well as removing duplicates where possible so that our team can quickly and efficiently prepare these for disclosure. You will also need to respond to customer queries by phone/email, using clear and professional language and signposting to guidance where appropriate.

All about our Team

The Information Governance team is small in number but has a key role in how the council uses its data and information to deliver services. We are a very busy team, processing upto 300 SARS a year as well as 1400 FOI requests.

We are very supportive of each other and the team works very closely together to deliver excellent customer service. We also work closely with colleagues to ensure that they have the right guidance and support to ensure that they can comply with our duties under information rights legislation. This can include areas such as providing advice on information sharing, privacy notices, records managements, security and mitigation of risks.

All about You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with structured processes and checklists.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain what's needed and manage expectations.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and learning new systems quickly.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information discreetly and in line with policies.
