All about the Role
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Property Assistant to deliver high-quality property management across the Council's owned and leased temporary accommodation stock.
You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, well-managed living environment and delivering an excellent housing management service that improves the quality of life for residents.
Key Responsibilities –
To conduct daily room inspections on temporary accommodation properties occupied by single clients placed there by Peterborough City Council..
To take a proactive and leading role in tenancy management issues including anti-social behaviour, property condition, safeguarding, domestic abuse and tenancy fraud/misuse cases.
To enforce the terms of license agreements, including providing clients with accurate and appropriate advice about their rights and responsibilities in relation to their license agreement and where necessary providing professional and excellent quality information to the Council's Legal Team to enable legal action to be taken where necessary.
Liaise and work with support providers on such issues as unauthorized occupancy /abandonment/squatting, harassment, domestic violence, neighbour nuisance and anti-social behaviour adopting a joint approach that seeks to retain accommodation where possible.
To support tenants who have suffered domestic abuse, working proactively with other agencies to advise and protect victims.
support the wider Housing Options service, where required, in communicating with clients while in the accommodation.
work closely and supportively with other team members and liaise effectively with other departments to ensure a coordinated and responsive service is provided.
Provide timely and effective reports to managers.

You will help ensure safe, well‑managed accommodation and positive outcomes for residents.
You will have strong housing management knowledge and proven experience of carrying out property inspections, ideally within temporary accommodation or the social housing sector. You will be confident in identifying property condition issues, ensuring standards are met, and taking appropriate action to maintain safe, compliant accommodation.
You will bring a professional, customer‑focused approach, with the ability to work effectively within policies and procedures while supporting vulnerable clients and working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
