We are looking for a skilled and motivated Workshop Fitter to join our workshop team. In this hands-on role, you will carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment, helping to ensure they remain safe, reliable and available to support essential frontline services.

Working as part of a professional team, you will diagnose faults, complete preventative and reactive maintenance, and undertake repairs to a high standard in line with manufacturer specifications and legislative requirements. You will play a key role in maximising fleet availability, minimising downtime and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations.

As your skills and qualifications develop, you will have the opportunity to undertake MOT testing on Class 4, 5 and 7 vehicles and carry out inspection tests on Private Hire and Hackney Carriage vehicles, ensuring all testing activities meet current DVSA standards and requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, vehicles and associated equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify the causes of breakdowns and implement effective repair solutions.
• The ability to diagnose and rectify both mechanical and electrical faults.
• Experience completing vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and manufacturer information to support effective repairs.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage workloads proactively and meet deadlines.
• Good computer literacy and the ability to accurately complete job cards, maintenance records and other workshop documentation.
• Level 3 literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to completing work safely and to a high standard.
• The ability to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the diplomacy and professionalism required to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
• A reliable, trustworthy and punctual approach to work.
• The ability to motivate others and contribute positively to team performance.

Ideally, you will have gained at least four years' experience within the motor trade and be working towards, or interested in obtaining, MOT Tester status. Experience supporting or shadowing qualified MOT Testers would be advantageous, along with the successful completion of the training required to obtain a valid MOT licence.
