The Portage home visitor will have responsibility for delivering a Portage programme of support to pre-school children with complex developmental and/or medical needs, and their families. The Portage home visitor will work in partnership with the parent/s/carer/s and services involved to acheive positive outcomes for the child and family. Peterborough Portage Service is a registered service and works to to the National Portage Association 'Model' and 'Principles'
You must have a driving license for this role as there is a a lot of work in the community visiting children's homes.
Hours are 9-5 with some flexibility. No evenings and weekends involved.
All about you
- You will have professional experience of working with children 0-5 years.
- You will have an Understanding and experience of working with children with SEND. They will have the ability to work collaboratively with partner services, agencies and colleagues.
- You should have skills to set developmental targets and competency in report writing.
An Early Years qualification (level 3 or above), will be necessary for this role and knowledge and experience of working with families would be of benefit.
This is a varied and challenging role, where each visit will be different. It is essential to have daily use of a car as you will be managing your own caseload, visiting families across the city.
