All about the Role
You will bring strong professional knowledge of the historic built environment, with a sound understanding of current and relevant heritage legislation and regulation. With substantial experience working within a regulatory planning service, you will have a track record of delivering high‑quality built heritage work, including handling appeals, advising on the repair and maintenance of listed buildings, and providing design guidance on development proposals. You will be confident managing multidisciplinary teams, leading projects effectively, and driving performance in line with local and national targets.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and the capability to prioritise workloads to meet demanding deadlines. A broad range of IT skills is essential, including Microsoft Office and planning systems such as Uniform. You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, ideally with membership of a relevant professional institute. A full driving licence, access to a vehicle for work purposes, and flexibility to attend occasional evening meetings are also required.
