We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and community-focused Licensing Officer to join our high-performing regulatory services team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help shape safe, fair and well-regulated places across Peterborough and Rutland, working as part of a forward-looking service that also delivers services for other councils.
The excellent and innovative work that we achieve in Peterborough has been recognised, with the service being shortlisted and winning several national awards. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of regulatory services delivery, encouraging innovation amongst team members to drive forward and develop the service.
This post is based in Peterborough, though you will also work closely with colleagues based in Oakham, Rutland. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.
The team works in partnership with Public Health and local businesses, both reactively and proactively, to address emerging issues.
Ideally, you will have experience in administering a licensing regime, determining licence applications, applying licensing legislation across multiple disciplines, and supporting regulatory compliance. You will carry out interventions, undertake low-level enforcement visits, investigate complaints, and provide business advice in relation to best practice. You will also have a keen interest in customer delivery, with a commitment to protecting and safeguarding the public.
The service is developing its commercial offering and as such experience with providing training and producing reports and analytical data will be an advantage.
