All about the Role

As the Financial Inclusion Officer, you will play a key role in helping residents avoid financial crisis and build long‑term resilience.

You will support the delivery of Peterborough City Council's Crisis & Resilience Fund and wider financial inclusion system, using data and insight to identify households most at risk and connect them to the right support at the right time. This includes working with the Low‑Income Family Tracker (LIFT) platform to design and deliver targeted income‑maximisation and benefits‑uptake campaigns.

The role combines data‑led outreach, partnership working and system development. You will help ensure residents moving through crisis support are linked into longer‑term pathways such as debt advice, employment support, housing stability, and digital inclusion. You will also support monitoring, reporting and assurance arrangements, ensuring high‑quality performance information for internal governance and external funders.

This is a varied role where you'll balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, helping to improve outcomes for residents while reducing future demand on public services.

All about our Team

You'll be part of the Communities team within the Place and Economy directorate, working closely with colleagues across the Council including Public Health, Housing, Adult and Children's Services, Customer Services, Finance and Communications.

The team works at the heart of the Council's prevention and early help agenda, with a strong focus on tackling poverty, inequality and the cost‑of‑living pressures facing residents. We work in partnership with the voluntary and community sector, the NHS, DWP, social landlords and advice providers to deliver joined‑up, practical support.

The Financial Inclusion function is fast‑paced, collaborative and purpose‑driven. You'll be supported by an experienced manager and work alongside colleagues who are committed to evidence‑led decision‑making, continuous improvement and making a real difference in people's lives.

All about You

You're someone who is motivated by reducing inequality and improving outcomes for people on low incomes.

You'll bring a strong understanding of financial inclusion, welfare benefits, income maximisation or related fields, and be comfortable working with data to identify need and measure impact. You're able to communicate clearly with residents, partners and senior stakeholders, and can translate complex information into practical, accessible solutions.

You'll enjoy working across organisations, building relationships and coordinating activity to improve services. You're confident handling sensitive situations with professionalism and care, and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Whether your background is in local government, the voluntary sector, public health or a related field, you'll share our commitment to early intervention, collaboration and improving financial resilience for Peterborough residents.
