All about the Role
To oversee the daily operation of the vehicle maintenance workshop, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of maintenance, inspection, testing and repair services across a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment.
The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating workshop activities, allocating resources, monitoring performance and supporting technicians and apprentices to maintain high standards of productivity, quality and customer service. The role also undertakes hands-on technical duties, including vehicle diagnostics, inspections and MOT testing, while providing technical expertise and guidance to the workshop team.
The postholder plays a key role in maximising fleet availability, minimising vehicle downtime and ensuring full compliance with all legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements, contributing to the effective delivery of frontline services.

All about You
You are an experienced vehicle maintenance professional with a strong understanding of vehicle inspection, servicing and repair processes. Confident working in a busy workshop environment, you have the technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to support a high-performing team and maintain excellent service standards.
You have a sound knowledge of workshop planning, resource allocation and DVSA MOT testing requirements, together with a good understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to vehicle maintenance operations. Comfortable using workshop and fleet management systems, you are able to make informed decisions that maximise productivity and fleet availability.
You are an effective people manager who can motivate, support and develop technicians and apprentices, helping them reach their full potential. With strong organisational skills, you can prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You are a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Your strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities enable you to identify practical solutions quickly, while your commitment to customer service and continuous improvement drives high levels of performance across the workshop.
In addition, you will have good IT skills, maintain accurate records and take pride in delivering quality work that supports a safe, compliant and reliable fleet operation.
